IMPORTANT NOTE

October 19, the day of the wedding, is Bridge Day. This means that the New River Gorge Bridge on Route 19 near Fayetteville, WV will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day of the wedding.

So on Saturday if you're coming from Buckhannon, WV, you should take I-79 south through Charleston, WV (instead of taking the Route 19 shortcut through Summersville) and then get on I-77 south. This will add an extra 30 to 40 minutes to your trip overall, but it'll probably be better than the Bridge Day detour. (Don't forget your toll money!)

On Friday if you have a hotel in Beckley or stay at Foxwood Inn, you should be unaffected by Bridge Day. By the time the reception is over on Saturday, the New River Gorge Bridge should be reopened.

If you're coming from Charleston, WV (like from the airport) or from the south, you should be completely unaffected by Bridge Day.

Directions to Foxwood Inn from the south

  • Take I-77 north through WV. 
  • Take Exit 28 to Ghent, WV. 
  • Turn right.
  • Pass the Marathon gas station and Subway. 
The next part of the trip should take about 30 minutes: 
  • At the end of the road, turn right onto Rt 19 / Flat Top Road. 
  • Continue on Rt 19 for 2.2 miles. 
  • After the Mercer County sign, make a sharp left onto Ellison Ridge Road. 
  • Google Maps will mention a lot of turns, but just stay on Ellison Ridge Road for 9 miles, making no turn-offs. Take it slow and easy; there are LOTS of potholes! 
  • Turn right onto Bolen Road down the hill. 
  • Take the first right into the Foxwood Inn driveway (Foxwood Inn sign as seen here).
  • Driveway is gravel and a mile long. 
If you get lost, it may be best to call the Inn for directions from where you are: 304-466-5514. Or you can use either of these GPS coordinates:

Directions to Foxwood Inn from the north

  • Take I-79 south through Charleston. (Do NOT take the Rt. 19 shortcut if traveling on Saturday, Oct. 19)
  • Take I-77 south. (TOLL ROAD: carry at least $5 in change)
  • Take Exit 28 to Ghent, WV.
  • Turn left.
  • Pass the Marathon gas station and Subway.
